Artists: The Beat Club

Venue: Hutch Court at the University of Chicago
Date of Show: May 28, 1994

A memorable DragKing show for several reasons. This was the only time DragKing ever played during the day in the sunlight. The band discovered that they couldn't see the lights on their effects units and chaos ensued. After a long delay in setting up Adam the sax player almost got in a physical fight with the soundman as the set began.

This is after doing a "soundcheck" for 45 minutes.
Adam: "Can I have more sax in the PA please?
Soundman: "Sax? What track is that in?"
Adam: "What do you mean what fucking track is it in?! What have you been doing for the last 45 minutes?!

Order was eventually restored and DragKing played a fine set while standing in the sun. Also playing that day were the Galaxy of Mailbox Whores, John Huss, and Yum Yum in one of their first Chicago appearances. The show was sponsered by the University of Chicago's Beat Club. The Beat Club puts on shows during the school year by different local Chicago bands. The Beat Club was created by Stel while he was a student at the University of Chicago and is still going strong today.
