Time for a new entry. what the fuck... It's been way too long.

I got a voicemail from Mark about a month ago on a Thursday. "Hey man, I'm sorry but I got fired this morning. So we've gotta get all of our stuff out. sorry." fuck... Mark was working at this AV company where he not only worked but also lived. He slept in the basement and also had taken over a corner of the place where we could practice and record. We had just finished up the second to last drum track on the Tuesday night before the call. but now we we're fucked. No place to play. No place to record. Fuck....

We talked about it more though and figured it out. The drum tracks were pretty much done. We could do the last one on drum machine if we had to. I had the most work to do. Bass tracks, guitar tracks, and vocals. So why not move everything to my basement? We moved everything over and it's been set up since. It's been great fun for me to have everything right there. I've been cranking. I've been making mixes of what we've got. I've been charting out all the songs and figuring out what's on every track. I've also been cranking out the trax as well. Recording and mixing all the time. It's great fun for me to go down late at night, put on the headphones, and do shit at the mixing board.

Two weekends ago was a great time. Julia took Elli out of town for the weekend to visit her sister. I had the place to myself for the entire weekend. I stayed up till 3 in the morning on Friday. Woke up trashed and went down again. Stayed up till 1 in the morning on Saturday. Then I spent Sunday morning doing one last sample based song. I cranked it out. Got soooo much shit done. It was an amazing weekend. One of the few times in my life when I felt burned out from recording once I was done on Sunday afternoon. I was really excited though. I felt like after all the work I had done that the thing is almost finished. I laid down a lot of scratch tracks on vocals so we could at least hear what the final thing would sound like. It's at the point now where there are just some tracks that need to be re-done. Nothing needs to be recorded from scratch.

So then I sat down last week to make some mixes. I really wanted to hear what this stuff sounds like. That's when my troubles began. It turns out that the 8 track now needs to be repaired. Fuck! There's a problem now with the alignment in the pickup reel. I've tried to clean everything but nothing works. So now we're sidelined again. We have to take the 8 track to the one place that can fix it and it's half way to Iowa. Who knows how long they'll have it and if they'll be able to fix it. fuck... I just wanna finish this record!
