The CD release party for the 100 Watts compilation of bands playing on WHPK's Pure Hype. On Friday the 7th there was a live broadcast on WHPK's Pure Hype to celebrate the release of the CD. The Handsome Family, Toulouse, Dingle and others all played live on the air. On Saturday night there was a show at the Empty Bottle. DragKing played one of their best shows. Two months before the show the band decided to write an entire new set for the occasion. They wrote all new songs and played them for the unsuspecting crowd. Many in the audience were surprised by the new directions that many of the new songs were leading. Still complex but more introspective, with more of an emphasis on rhythm and dynamics. Most of these new songs will appear on the new DragKing release, due to come out in the fall of '96. Also playing that night were Tart, The Goblins, Galaxy of Mailbox Whores, John Huss, and The Hideaways.
